About Us

We are a publicly funded secondary school established in 1971 with a current enrolment of of 762 students, supported by 91 teachers and support personnel. We offer a diverse learning experience to all of our students. 

Mission

The mission of the Clare Hall Secondary School is to facilitate learning by creating experiences which result in the “holistic” (physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, social and moral) development of students. Clare Hall Secondary School is dedicated to providing its students with an education that prepares them to function successfully in the society.

Vision

Clare Hall Secondary School envisions a learning community in which all stakeholders work collaboratively, as active partners, to support and enhance continuous student achievements, and professional growth of the staff, in the process of nation building.

Philosophy

The motto of the Clare Hall Secondary School hinges on its philosophy that all students can learn regardless of socio-economic background or location of residence. We contend that the purpose of education is to equip students with skills, knowledge, abilities and attitudes which will make them productive citizens – making meaningful contributions to society and engaging in continuous learning for self-development.

(1) Place strong emphasis on secondary education through the effective implementation of the curriculum planned by the Ministry of Education and the Caribbean Examination Council.

(2) Supplement and augment the “structured” curriculum in meaningful ways so as to provide students with the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities that will prepare them for life.

(3) Foster a learning environment that is disciplined, safe, controlled and product-oriented.

(4) Create learning experiences for students from which they can make meaningful linkages with the expectation outlined in the curriculum.

(5) Create a school culture that
a. fosters self esteem, self-respect and respect of others;
b. promotes growth of self-discipline in students;
c. encourage students to take responsibility for their behaviours and their progress as learners.

(6) Create a school climate that is loving, caring and understanding.

(8) Work collaboratively with all stakeholders in planning and implementing suitable curricula that offer a variety of learning, experiences in all disciplines (academic, vocational, technical, athletic, etc)

We offer a exciting bled of youth and experience among our faculty. In excess of 87% of our teachers have been trained and certified, thus suitably qualified to deliver a robust curriculum.

After spending five years at CHSS our students are among the top competitors for spots at the Antigua State College, Antigua and Barbuda International Institute of Technology , the Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality training Institute and other post-secondary institutions.
